Translate HTML files

Translate .html, .htm and .xhtml pages up to 8 MB. Visible text, alt text, titles and meta descriptions are translated while tags, scripts and styles stay intact.

HTML files (.html, .htm and .xhtml) are accepted up to 8 MB. AI Glot translates what a visitor reads and leaves the markup as it was: tags, classes, attributes, scripts and styles come back exactly as written.

What is translated, and what is left alone

TranslatedLeft as it was
Paragraphs, headings, lists and table cellsTags, classes and attribute values such as href
title, alt, placeholders, aria labels and the meta descriptionscript, style, code and preformatted blocks
Links and emphasis inside a sentence, moved with the right wordsAnything marked translate="no" or class="notranslate"

When you translate into one language, the page’s lang attribute is updated to the target language.

What you can ask

Page and metadata

Translates the visible text and the search-facing fields.

Translate the page into French, including the title, alt text and meta description. Keep the brand name Acme in English.

Email template

Keeps the table layout that holds an email together.

Translate this email template into German. Keep merge tags such as {{first_name}} and the unsubscribe link text pattern unchanged.

Visible text only

Leaves the metadata in the source language.

Translate only the visible body text into Spanish. Do not translate the title, alt text or meta tags.

Buttons and labels

Short interface wording with a consistent register.

Translate into Italian. Use short, imperative wording for buttons and keep the product name unchanged.

Help article

For a help centre export: keeps code samples untouched.

Translate this help article into Portuguese. Leave code samples, file paths and URLs unchanged.

Good to know

  • One target language per upload. A page holds one language. If you ask for two, the plan translates one and says so. Run the file once per language: your glossary carries over.
  • A folder of pages. Put the files in a ZIP to translate them in one job and keep the folder layout.
  • Placeholders. Template tags that look like text, such as merge fields, are best named in your instruction so they are kept.
  • Ceiling. 8 MB. Output filter: not available, the whole file comes back.

Use these docs with your AI tools

An AI agent can read this documentation directly. You do not need an account or an API key. Everything here is public and read-only.

Query these docs via MCP

Recommended

Add this server to Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Mistral, or any tool that supports MCP. Your agent can then search AI Glot Docs documentation and read it in full, instead of answering from memory.

https://ai-glot.com/docs/mcp
  • searchFind the passages that answer a question.
  • fetchRead one page in full, as Markdown.
  • list_pagesSee every page in this documentation.

Query these docs over HTTP

The same tools also work as plain web requests. Use this for scripts, or for any tool that does not support MCP. There is one endpoint per tool. Arguments go in the query string, and the answer comes back as JSON.

Read the OpenAPI description. It is built from the same definitions as the tools, so it always matches what the endpoints do.

Read these docs as Markdown

Add .md to any page URL to get its Markdown source. You can also send the headerAccept: text/markdown to the page URL itself.

To read the whole documentation in one file, open llms-full.txt. For a short index of every page, open llms.txt.
