Translate PDF files

Translate text-based PDFs up to 25 MB and get a PDF back on the same pages, with images, graphics and page size untouched. Includes what is refused and example instructions.

PDF files (.pdf) are accepted up to 25 MB. AI Glot reads the text on each page and rewrites it in place, so you get a PDF back with the same pages, images, graphics, colours and page size. There is no detour through Word, and Arabic, Hebrew, Japanese and other scripts are written correctly.

What is translated, and what is left alone

TranslatedLeft as it was
Headings, paragraphs and list itemsImages, graphics, backgrounds and colours
Table cells and short labels in charts and figuresPage size and page order
Headers and footersText inside photos and images
Text in several styles on one line, with each part keeping its colour and weightForm field values

The original font is reused when it holds the letters needed. Otherwise a matching font is embedded, so the text displays correctly on any device.

What you can ask

Whole report

Translates everything and protects the name of the company.

Translate this report into German. Keep the company name and product names in English.

Right-to-left language

The text is written right to left with joined letters, on the same layout.

Translate the document into Arabic. Keep numbers and units as they are.

Tables and captions only

Scopes the plan to table cells and figure labels.

Translate only the text in tables and chart labels into French. Leave the running paragraphs in English.

Compact wording

Asks for shorter phrasing, which helps dense pages.

Translate into Spanish. Prefer short, compact phrasing so the text fits the original page layout, and leave product codes unchanged.

Skip the legal pages

Excludes part of the document from the plan.

Translate into Italian, but skip the legal notice and the last page of terms.

Good to know

  • The PDF must contain real text. A scanned PDF is a picture of a page and AI Glot does not run OCR, so it is refused. Text inside photos and images is not translated either.
  • Refused files. Password-protected or encrypted PDFs, PDFs whose permissions forbid editing, digitally signed PDFs (translating would break the signature) and XFA forms. The upload tells you which one it is. Export a fresh copy without the protection and upload that.
  • One target language per upload. If you ask for two, the plan translates one and says so. Run the file once per language: your glossary carries over.
  • Longer translations. German or French often runs 20 to 30% longer than English. The lines are tightened first, then the text is set slightly smaller within its block. Nothing is cut off. Skim dense pages, such as tables, before you send the file.
  • Ceiling. 25 MB. Output filter: not available, the whole PDF comes back.
  • If a language cannot be written yet, the job stops before anything is charged.

Use these docs with your AI tools

An AI agent can read this documentation directly. You do not need an account or an API key. Everything here is public and read-only.

Query these docs via MCP

Recommended

Add this server to Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, Mistral, or any tool that supports MCP. Your agent can then search AI Glot Docs documentation and read it in full, instead of answering from memory.

https://ai-glot.com/docs/mcp
  • searchFind the passages that answer a question.
  • fetchRead one page in full, as Markdown.
  • list_pagesSee every page in this documentation.

Query these docs over HTTP

The same tools also work as plain web requests. Use this for scripts, or for any tool that does not support MCP. There is one endpoint per tool. Arguments go in the query string, and the answer comes back as JSON.

Read the OpenAPI description. It is built from the same definitions as the tools, so it always matches what the endpoints do.

Read these docs as Markdown

Add .md to any page URL to get its Markdown source. You can also send the headerAccept: text/markdown to the page URL itself.

To read the whole documentation in one file, open llms-full.txt. For a short index of every page, open llms.txt.
