Do I get the same file type back?
Yes. A Word document comes back as a Word document, a subtitle file as a subtitle file, a JSON file as a JSON file. The structure stays and only the text changes, so the result goes straight back where it came from.
Can I translate a PDF?
Yes. You get a PDF back with the same pages, images and colours, and the text rewritten in place. Scanned PDFs are not read, because there is no text in them to translate, and password-protected or signed PDFs and XFA forms are refused. For a Google Doc or Google Sheet, download it as DOCX or XLSX instead.
Are these tools really free?
Yes. Every page has a free tool with no account: five files a day, up to 2 MB each, and up to 5,000 words translated per file. An AI Glot account removes the limits and adds glossaries, history, an API and a CLI.
